Southwest Sectional Director, Dr. Essie French Preston organized the Tri Cities Branch of the National Association of University Women with twenty professional women. On Sunday, October 25, 2015, seventeen women participated in the Chartering of the Tri Cities Branch, held at Compton Community College. The National President, Evelyn Wright and National First Vice President, Christiana Worthams assisted in the chartering ceremony. The original chartered members are Eckko A. Blake, Allyce Edwards, Mary Grace-Hall, Felicia Hatten, Alice Faye Hawkins, Danielle R. Gibson, Joyce M. Shipman(Reinstated), Kiera Teague, Brittany C. Williams, Wendy Johnson Wimberly, Sheilia Wells, Jasmine M. Phillips, Ayanna Ewanike Davis, Dr. Deborah LeBlanc, Stephanie J. Dewitt, Kiara Cooper-Hicks and Dr. Shresia D. Fontenot Kennedy. On November15, 2015, three young women, who were unable to make the chartering ceremony were inducted into the Tri Cities Branch. They were Christine Aldrich, Andrea Eke, and Sherece N. Jefferson. The elected officers were Felecia P. Hatten, President; Dr. Shresia Fontenot Kenney, First Vice President; Alice Faye Hawkins, Second Vice President; Kiara Cooper-Hicks, Financial Secretary; Wendy Johnson-Wimerly, Treasurer.
